Eaglefort (/eaglefort/ [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Town located in Lochdell Dutchy, Hesan County, within the Kingdom of Helsteria.

The name Eaglefort is derived from the Sylvin language, as Eaglefort was founded by Glkeshonkdo Pettitt, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Eaglefort has a yearly average temperature of 26°C (78°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 31°C (87°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 22°C (71°F). Eaglefort receives an average of 144 cm/y (56 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Eaglefort covers an area of nearly 4 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 2776 m (9107 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Eaglefort was founded durring the early 18th century in late summer of the year 1744, by Glkeshonkdo Pettitt. The establishment of Eaglefort suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.

Eaglefort was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 18th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Eaglefort is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Eaglefort is buildings are speckled and packed arround broad flagstone streets with seemingly no patern to them. It appears as if the town's residents simply built streets as they pleased and squeazed buildings in wherever and howeave rpossible, creating an organic, frustrating to navigate, maze of a town. The town is protected by a series of wooden fences ringing the town's parimiter, which are likly intended to keep varrious beasts out of town rather than protect it from attack by any intelegent agents. The town's bare minimum defences are visibly old, but also obviously well maintained. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with routine mantance of the town's defences.

Eaglefort seems to be abandoned at first. There are people present, working their trades and going about their business like any community, it’s just they are absurdly quiet. Just as you start to think there might be trouble, you see most of them are smiling, quietly exchanging words with a friend, or simply enjoying the day as they work. It reminds you of an evening at home as everyone dined, having run out of things to talk about and embraced the savory meal before them.

Civic Infrastructure

Eaglefort has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Eaglefort.

Eaglefort has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Eaglefort has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Eaglefort has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Eaglefort's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Eaglefort has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Eaglefort has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Eaglefort's locals are divided into several castes. They may be organized by social role, by imputed nobility of birth, by ethnic origins, or any other dividing principle, but they cannot imagine any other way of organizing themselves. A hierarchy of castes is not inevitable, but there will be social and legal limits applied to ensure that each caste remains fixed in its function. The outside world may or may not respect these distinctions when dealing with the locals.

Eaglefort's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by vertical proportions, pointed arches, external buttressing, and asymmetry in the general shape of its buildings. The decorative features of the style were key, consisting of large arched windows, pointed arches, vaulted ceilings, flying buttresses, and sculptures integrated into the structure itself. Occasionally, for very important buildings, an array of sculptures or one colossal sculpture might replace the entirety of the entrance to said building.

The Atomie near Eaglefort are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Eaglefort's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves reenactments to channel Truename Magic energies of tier 1 via oratory performances.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century was struck by a great wind storm. A great funnel cloud itself touched down in Eaglefort, bringing twisting winds which killed 126 people, 377 livestock, and 49 buildings in the disaster.. The disaster is generally remembered as the Howling Winds of Heartbreak.
